TIMELINE OF EVENTS

1549
Late in the year. Nhovi's parents, [mom] Zhu Mokov and [dad] Tsimh'sae Maimhov, and Nhovi's siblings, [sis] Miah Mokov (7) and [bro] Zhu'a Mokov (5), immigrate to Ala Mhigo from Gridania after being persuaded to by Zhu's five lively and rich merchant sisters.

1550
And then Nhovi is born in the twelfth sun of the fourth umbral moon, well after immigration to Ala Mhigo. (8/12) (Dual Rhalgr.)
15??-1552
At some point, the state integrated the Fist of Rhalgr, a following of powerful monks, into its military. A while after that, FoR is named the state religion. Their power grows and grows, invading aspects of most everyday life; the economy, politics and culture are dominated by the FoR.
1550-1552
Life is pretty good for the Mokovs; they see steady business and make enough money to rent and then purchase their own home.
1552
With the official merging of Ala Mhigan army with Fist of Rhalgr monks, trouble brews in the uppers of the political realm. Theodorac claims himself divine rule of Ala Mhigo, banning all worship of Rhalgr (as well as any other god) and demanding that all worship goes to HIS deity of choice, Nymeia. The monks rebel against him, and he uses that as an excuse to imprison and torture them. After realizing the monastery planned to topple his rule, he goes on a crusade against the Fist of Rhalgr. He massacres the main temple of the order. Most of the Fist of Rhalgr's followers were killed that day.
1552
As a result of the Fist of Rhalgr massacre and some poor timing, Nhovi's aunts that go to the temple to visit their sister (who was a monk there) are killed in the attack. Zhu is now the only surviving sibling of her family.
1552 - 1554
King Theodorac continues his crusade, killing all remainders of the Fist of Rhalgr and all other religious groups.
1554
Nhovi's father, Tsimh'sae, is killed as a result of the King's forces at the Ala Mhigan gates. (It's a walled city.) He was going to see how feasible it was to leave the city.
1555
The King of Ruin continues to ruin everything. You're all heretics.
1555
Zhu'a is killed in one of the routine beheadings as he and Zhu leave Miah and Nhovi hiding in the house to get groceries. He sneaked out after their mother, insisting on coming to protect her. Zhu is also killed in this incident, as her reaction to them taking her son was to attack the king's men. A neighbor who had witnessed it told Nhovi and Miah. The sisters leave the house.
1556 - 1557
King Theodorac's paranoia builds after the Queen plans on having him murdered, and he turns to killing pretty much every and anyone, including his loyal subjects.
1556 - 1557
Paranoia also mounts in Miah and the sisters wander Ala Mhigo, stealing food to get by and never sleeping in the same place. Miah teaches Nhovi to lie. Miah age 13, Nhovi age 6.
1557
The people revolt, mobbing the castle. Guards simply let them pass. Theodorac kills himself, considering it preferable to getting beaten to death in an angry mob. The Garleans take the resulting chaos to their advantage and swoop in, taking Ala Mhigo for their stronghold in Eorzea.
1557
A couple of chaotic months after Garlemald takes Ala Mhigo, Miah and Nhovi are taken in by a newly built orphanage. They are taught many things about the Garlean Empire, and fed a steady diet of propaganda.
1558 - 1559
Garlemald continues to secure Ala Mhigo. Magitek is slowly introduced to citizens.
1559
The sisters are offered the chance to go study in the Garlean motherland, and take it. Nhovi is 9 and Miah is 16. They depart not too long after; just enough time to prepare to go with the rest of their peers and with other children from other orphanages. They are promised a position in the army upon return.
1559 - 1562
By this time, Ala Mhigo is tightly controlled by their acting viceroy, Gaius von Baelsar.
1561
Having completed the bare minimum training and education, Miah is sent to join the XVIth Legion under their viceroy. Miah is reluctant to leave Nhovi, but Nhovi tells her to be proud. Miah is stationed in Ala Mhigo, and the two communicate through letters.
1562
The Meteor Project, having its base of operations in Bozja Citadel, is completely leveled in a horrible accident in which the moon Dalamud turns a deep red. All data is destroyed, and officially the project is abandoned. As a result, Cid nan Garlond deflects from Imperial cause, joining Eorzea and forming the Ironworks.
1562
Being balls-deep in military training, Nhovi definitely hears about the accident at the Citadel. She is completely baffled by Cid nan Garlond's reported deflecting, and is taught to despise him for it and that loyalty is one of the most important traits in any person.
1562
The aether concentration of Silvertear Lake catches imperial attention; they go to conquer the area. The assault commences and fails spectacularly thanks to the ancient dragon Midgardsormr awakening from the lake's waters. Within weeks, beastkin are summoning their eikons. Garlemald retreats back to Ala Mhigo.
1562
Miah is sent to Silvertear Lake. There is a period of several weeks, nearly a month, where Nhovi does not hear from her sister. She is exceptionally anxious about this, and weeps with relief upon receiving a letter detailing the fight and assuring Nhovi of Miah's survival. Miah was badly injured, but is expected to make a full recovery in Ala Mhigo.
1562 - 1566
The XIVth Legion, lead by acting viceroy of Ala Mhigo, Gaius von Baelsar, wipes out resistance groups and maintains control over Ala Mhigo. Propaganda is implicitly impossible to avoid; they were distributing linkpearls over the various city states, which played repeating propaganda messages. "Accept Imperial rule, take up arms against the beast tribes, and you shall have the full protection of Garlemald." No one there bit, but the children of Ala Mhigo were indoctrinated with this kind of thing from extremely young or from birth.
1562 - 1566
Miah's service continues. The letters Nhovi receives are increasingly incoherent, and increasingly vague. Nhovi wonders often what's going on, and is informed by her professors and drill in still frustratingly vague terms. She is eager to join the front lines.
1566 - 1572
Keeping the tight standard of Garlean control on Ala Mhigo and its home country of Gyr Abania is generally the state of things here. They make no major movements, keeping things under control and continuing to fortify their foothold in Eorzea.
1566 - 1572
Miah and Nhovi's reuniting is anticlimatic, awkward, and uncomfortable. Miah has broken, and it's up to Nhovi to gather up the pieces. She is granted the permission to keep Miah with her as much as is possible through their squad formation and the like.

Nhovi is a good soldier, eager, loyal and daring enough to earn her two promotions; she ends up a leader of a small squad specialized in stealth and scouting maneuvers.
1572
Nael appears from the East and takes control of EVERYTHING in the West by claiming to have discovered a way to control the moon (Dalamud, containing Behemoth) and its descent. The Emperor's pretty keen on that out of desperation-- they've been at a stalemate for almost an entire epoch (9-10 out of 12 yrs). The children of Ala Mhigo are enlisted in the VIIth Legion en masse, and things get brutal very quickly with Nael's intense standards. Soldiers in both the VIIth and XIVth are forced to murder daily to make slaughter "mere reflex" and to harden their hearts. The killings were likely of those resistance groups mentioned to be stomped out by Gaius von Baelsar.

Ala Mhigo is also highly fortified and used as a base of operations; magitek and airships and troops go from there to the XIVth Legion's (Gaius') hidden bases in Mor Dhona.
1572
The regimented killing has its intended effect on Nhovi, but it leaves Miah worse for wear. They often argue about it in hushed, near silent whispers.

Nhovi and Miah (as well as the rest of Nhovi's soldiers) remain in Ala Mhigo for a while longer before being placed in a more active zone, in particular the hidden base of their Legatus-- Gaius von Baelsar-- in Mor Dhona. It's a huge honor, and they quickly are set to work keeping lookout/patrol.
1572
The operations of the VIIth Legion are largely supported by the XIVth, but the VIIth is more directed towards collecting massive quantities of aether crystals for the control of Dalamud, though it seems like many soldiers don't know about how certain things work. The VIIth Legion went about to places like Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak and the Dzemael Darkhold, locations with high aetheric concentration. This was all for mining. Garlean soldiers were hella nervous, obviously having been told about the accident in Bozja Citadel, but Nael reassured them and solidified their resolve.
1572
Nhovi's squad has nothing to do with the mining, since they're the XIVth rather than the VIIth, though she knows about it; she knows they're harvesting aether crystals for the renewed Meteor Project, but is ignorant as to how any of that shit works. It's rumored among the junior centurios that the lunar transmitter is being constructed in the core of Castrum Novum, but there's no concrete information, and asking isn't something you do. Nhovi's men keep up the patrol on chocoback, felling the intruders they don't take back to interrogate and reporting every minute movement.
1572
A prophet talking about a seventh umbral era was afoot. This was due to a bunch of guys called the Archons. Nael got extremely distracted and upset by this guy, and personally went out to try and lure him out. This fuck up allows the Grand Companies to be restored; frequent Imperial attack (foot soldiers & vanguard magitek) on citystates meant that those who opposed them quickly conceded and took up support for survival.
1572
A childhood friend of Nhovi's dies in the citystate attacks' front lines.

She has a quickly scathing opinion of the Archons, but is otherwise impartial to the hunt for them that her superiors decide to spend manpower on. She definitely believes they are privy to information she isn't, and trusts in their ability.
1572
Adventurers take back the high aetheric concentration bases from the Garleans, lead by Cid nan Garlond. Adventurers are also rallied by the Archons of the Circle of Knowing to attack Ifrit, they succeed, and the Garleans begin their search for ancient Allag technology to complete the lunar transmitter. A tomestone is found and picked up by Gaius personally. They calibrate the lunar transmitter to begin bringing down Dalamud, attack Eorzea's city states for a diversion, and the VIIth Legion searches for information on the eikons of the beast clans. They kidnap theologians. Garuda is taken down.
1572
Miah becomes increasingly paranoid and doomsaying during this time; they remain stationed at Castrum Novum, and Nhovi becomes increasingly short-tempered in regards to her sister.
1572
Castrum Novum is discovered as an Imperial base. While Gridania worries, Gaius downs one of his own airships that contains important information and baits the Grand Companies of Eorzea into going after it. Gaius doesn't believe Nael has the Empire's best interests at heart. After collection of the information, Cid nan Garlond determines that Castrum Novum is the lunar transmitter's base. The leaders of the Grand Companies reform the Eorzean Alliance, and immediately gather together to attack the base, which is reportedly perfectly finished.

After some struggle at the base, the Eorzeans dismantle the tower. Nael destroys it completely and the base is vacated thanks to an immense fire. Shortly afterwards, Nael uses an Allagan ruin to continue to guide down the moon. He is killed by the three Grand Companies.
1572
There's panic and unease, but Miah is the worst about it all. She weeps every moment she is in her quarters, and Nhovi is forced to take disciplinary action against her for her slacking off and resistance to commands while on duty; the punishments are severe enough that Miah relearns to better control herself-- at least temporarily. With the attack on Castrum Novum, they are away on chocoback doing surveillance when the Grand Companies attack, and by the time they realize what's happening, it's too late. The enemy is withdrawing.

Gaius' XIVth Legion retreats to a temporary encampment, and Nhovi's platoon is not one of the reenforcements sent to aide Nael's final battle. Nael's death and bizarre behavior coming to light in such an explosive way causes much unrest among the troops, and they turn their daily killing routines on those within their ranks deemed unloyal.
1572
Voidsent appear across Eorzea as the aetheral barrier between the worlds thin. Wildlife goes apeshit, people are scared, Dalamud gets closer every day. And then runes appear bearing the symbols of the Twelve, furthuring the belief of the prophecies being truth.

Gaius withdraws his troops back to Ala Mhigo, and leaves the remainder of Nael's VIIth Legion entrenched in the Cartenau Flats.
1572
Miah is losing her grip on reality, and asks Nhovi to run away with her. Nhovi refuses, and Miah deserts by morning. Nhovi gets in a lot of trouble for it-- Miah was under her command, and they were also blood related. She is interrogated brutally, but does not lose faith in her Empire despite the personal betrayal of her sister and the protocal involving it.

They do not expend resources on looking for Miah-- they are to return to Ala Mhigo, and there are to be no delays.
1572
The moon descends enough that the fact that it is artificial is revealed. The Battle of Cartenau begins with the Grand Companies of Eorzea against Garlemald's VIIth Legion. Dalamud awakens, revealing that Dalamud was the Bahamut all along. Bahamut was imprisoned by the Allag many an era ago and shot up into space. With Bahamut's emergence, the VIIth Legion is instantly destroyed, and Bahamut launches pieces of Dalamud all across Eorzea, though it's centralized on the area around Mor Dhona and the various city states. Louisoix attempts to use the Twelve's strength to re-seal Bahamut, but it fails as Bahamut powers through and shatters Louisoix's staff. This causes all the summoned magic to dissolve, and Bahamut gets ready to use his final attack. Louisoix sends away the adventurers to safety through time and space and is killed in the blast that levels the battlefield.
1572
While the battle on the flats commensces, Nhovi is having her doubts. They watch on as Bahamut breaks out of his era long shell and rains terror down on all the realm; having lagged behind due to not having a chocobo for everyone, even doubled up, Nhovi's manipuli was making a slow move through the Black Shroud. But the sight of the elder eikon filled them with a fear that most of them rapidly fled to a camp on Gyr Abania's border. However, in the chaos that followed from a piece of Dalamud falling nearby, Nhovi rides away from her group.

Nhovi deserts the country she loves, knowing she can never return, and goes to find her last remaining family.
1572-1577
The Empire retreats, staying in Ala Mhigo and keeping its operations minimal. Eorzea seeks to heal its wounds from the Calamic end of an Era.
1572-1577
After deserting, Nhovi takes on her father's surname and joins the Adventurer's Guild in Ul'dah. She picks up thaumaturgy, studies with the guild for two years, and leaves Ul'dah in a fit of paranoia. She travels, pursuing knowledge of the things the Empire kept from her as well as furthering her magic, and gives up on finding her sister.

She determines to study magitek with her new knowledge of thaumaturgy put to use, and plans on offering that eventually accumulated knowledge to the Garleans as an apology for her and Miah's desertion.
